Stirringstill video projection and sound installation, animal stall, Royal showgrounds, Adelaide,
Art Gallery of South Australia Project Room 2009

Firstly I’m a dancer-I learnt to phrase movements, to be present in each somatic stall -to make space and music an immersive and immanent plane of action-a timing of moments recalled and performed. Like Samuel Beckett whose novella stirrings till acquaints one with contradictions-this video stirringstill is an endless cycle of beginnings-an operational text for nothing. The space for the event makes action contingent-the showground– sawdust bed for prize show animals becalms and muffles all footsteps- breathlessly-settled and combed to perfection-for now. The sound refrain calls you to walk the distance-to advance easily to the projected figure installed, forestalled in the dust.
